This hairstyle was inspired by hairstyles that we've spotted on Pinterest plus the hairstyles in "The Great Gatsby". We're loving how easy this style was to create! This look will work for almost any hair length below the chin. We love the texturized look for more volume, but this can be styled with our without the texture as well. We used a headband from Forever 21, but just about any headband with a bit of stretch will do the trick. Keep reading to view the step-by-step tutorial.
For best results, texturize your hair with the Sam Villa Textur® Iron to create volume and soft, moldable texture making your hair easier to work with. To texturize your hair, take horizontal sections and spray a minimum of 6-8" away with Redken quick tease 15 backcombing finishing spray to protect the hair from heat and for maximum iron results. Use the Sam Villa Textur® Texturizing Iron tapping the plates down the length of your hair to texturize the entire head.
Brush your hair back into a low pony tail and place a headband around your forehead to the back of your head resting over your hair. Next, gather your hair into a ponytail grip and smooth out your ponytail using your Sam Villa Styling Brush.
Create a twist by folding the length of your hair in a twisting movement up and toward the center back of your head, tucking the hair into your headband. Once you reach the back of your head secure the twist with some medium hairpins. Repeat this process on the opposite side.
Secure your twist with a hair bungee to keep your style locked in tight.
From here, you can wear this beautiful style with the length out or move on to the next steps for a chignon option.
For a larger bun, use a medium bun hair form - this will give it a dramatic effect. To create the chignon, hold your hair straight back and begin to roll your hair in toward the back of your head.
Continue to roll your hair until you reach the secured area of your sides.
Use large hairpins and secure the shape on both sides from the top of the section. Hot Tip: When securing a shape with hairpins begin by placing the pin through the shape in the opposite direction, then slide the hairpin back toward the desired shape using a hook movement. This will allow for maximum tension and security.
